Accounts Clerk

The role will involve assisting with day-to-day accounting duties, maintaining accurate records, supporting reporting processes and helping the finance function run smoothly.

The Role
As an Accounts Clerk, you will support the Finance Team with a range of accounting and administrative tasks. You will help ensure that financial records are accurate, invoices and payments are properly processed, and information is kept organised and up to date.
You will also work closely with colleagues across different departments, including procurement, logistics and site teams, helping to verify documents, resolve queries and support the smooth flow of financial information within the business.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include:
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date accounting records in line with company procedures and accounting standards.
- Posting journal entries for daily transactions, ensuring correct coding and supporting documentation.
- Reconciling bank and intercompany balances on a regular basis.
- Supporting monthly and year-end closing processes.
- Assisting with timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Helping to monitor cash flow and prepare weekly or monthly cash flow reports.
- Assisting in the preparation of management accounts and financial reports.
- Supporting budget preparation and variance analysis.
- Helping to ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards and legal requirements.
- Assisting with documentation required for VAT returns and liaising with accountants when required.
- Supporting internal controls and helping improve process efficiency.
- Assisting with system updates, software migration or data reconciliations when needed.
- Liaising with procurement, logistics and site supervisors to verify invoice approvals and delivery confirmations.
- Communicating with suppliers and clients to resolve payment or account-related queries.
- Working closely with the Accountant to streamline accounting workflows.
- Maintaining a well-organised filing system, both physical and digital, for invoices, payments and correspondence.
- Supporting improvements to accounting software, reporting tools and dashboards.
- Carrying out other finance-related duties as required.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate should have:
- A minimum of 2–3 years’ relevant accounting experience.
- ACCA qualifications or be in the early stages of ACCA studies.
- Knowledge of Malta accounting standards and statutory compliance.
- Good working knowledge of accounting software and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
- Fluency in both Maltese and English.
